Far far far far far far far far and so on away in uh… ROME again…

     Julius Caesar

In Rome was a very popular and wise man called Julius Caesar. He knew how to make people love him and be afraid of him. He was popular because he was a very powerful warrior. Once, he and his fine officers were walking through a very small village. All the people were sitting and standing by the roadside watching him walk. And their mayor was watching too. He was very, very happy as if he was Caesar himself.

Some of Caesar’s officers burst out “Look at him. He is just a ruler of a small village!” But Caesar exclaimed  “Laugh as you will. I’d rather be a ruler of a small village than the second person in Rome!”

Another time Caesar was on a boat in a very big storm. The captain had sailed in many storms but nothing like this. He whined “All is lost. All is lost!” But Caesar said “No we are safe because Caesar is on board.”

Cincinnatus the hero!

CINCINNATUS

Far far away lies ROME. Long ago when it was small, there was a man named Cincinnatus. He was very rich, but lost all his money. So he planted with his hands.  He was very wise. If someone had a problem a neighbour would say “Go tell Cincinnatus. He is very wise.”

In the city every man was a soldier. There was a wild tribe that always came down a mountain pass and then stole from the city. The Romans set a army up to battle them. It marched up the pass, but the wild people prepared a trap.

 Awhile after two horse men came rushing into Rome. Lots of people followed them to the white haired fathers. One of the horse men said “We were walking in the path. It was a very thin pathway with walls along the path.” Then the other one said “The wild people set a trap and blocked up all of the pathway They were all around us. Five of us escaped. Five pushed their way through and five … uh died.”

The white haired fathers said “We need someone wise enough to lead the guards and boys into battle.” Someone said “Go get Cincinnatus. He is very wise.” So they went to Cincinnatus. Cincinnatus saw them in the distance. He politely waited for them to speak. The horse man said “Put on your cloak Cincinnatus and please lead the guards and boys into battle.” Cincinnatus called his wife to get him his cloak “I will go” he said. He chased all of the wild people back into their country. They won a great victory. Cincinnatus was ruler for 16 days because after 16 day he gave power back to the white haired fathers.
