The Three Little Pigs
Once there was and old Sow who had three little pigs. She
let them go so they could seek their fortune. The first pig met a man with a
bundle of straw. The pig asked “May I have some of that straw to build a
house?” The man let him use the straw to make a house.
A wolf came and asked the pig if he could come in. The
pig yelled “Not by the hair of my chinny, chin, chin!”
The wolf declared “Then I’ll huff and puff and blow your
house down!” He blew the house down and gobbled up the little pig.
The second pig met a man with a bundle of sticks. The pig
asked “May I have some of that sticks to build a house?” The man let him use
the sticks to build a house.
Later the wolf came and asked the pig if he could come in
the house. The pig screamed “Not by the hair of my chinny, chin, chin!”
The wolf demanded “Then I’ll huff and puff and blow your
house down!” He blew the house down and swallowed the little pig.
The third pig met a man with a bundle of bricks. The pig
asked “May I have some of those bricks to build a house?” The man let him use
the bricks to build a house.
After he built the
house, the wolf came and asked the pig if he could come inside. The pig yelled “Not
by the hair of my chinny, chin, chin!”
The wolf growled “Then I’ll huff and puff and blow your
house down!” He tried hard but he could not blow the house down.
Trying to be nice, the wolf asked the pig if he wanted to
go to Mr. Smith’s cabbage field at six o’clock tomorrow. The pig answered yes,
but the next day he woke up at five o’clock and went to the cabbage field early
so he could trick the wolf. At six o’clock the wolf came to the pig’s house and
asked “Are you ready to go?”
The pig proudly told the wolf “Ha, I have already been to
the cabbage field and carried a nice potful home for dinner.”
The wolf was very angry but still trying to be nice. He
told the pig that there was a nice apple tree and to be there at five o’clock.
At four o’clock the pig started picking apples. Later the wolf came when the
pig was still in the tree. He asked the pig “How are the apples?”
The pig replied “Good, I will throw one to you.”
When the wolf went to pick it up, the pig climbed down
and ran back to his house.
Still confident, the wolf went to the pig’s house and
told the pig “There is a fair tomorrow, will you come?”
The pig answered “I will come, what time will you be
ready?” The wolf told the pig to be there at 3 o’clock.
The next day the pig went to the fair at 2 o’clock and
bought a butter-churn. When he saw the wolf coming, he hid inside the
butter-churn and it rolled down a hill toward the wolf. Scared, the wolf ran
back to the pig’s house and told him about the weird thing that came rolling at
him.
The pig proudly crooned “Ha, I bought a butter-churn and
I rolled down at you.”
Stomping on the ground, the wolf was so angry he climbed
up the house and slid down the chimney. Quickly the pig put a big pot in the
chimney. When the wolf slid down the chimney and into the pot, the pig closed
the lid and cooked the wolf. Soon he had a wonderful stew for dinner.
